You’ll find so many definitions for playgroups. The dictionary defines a playgroup as a location for children not currently eligible for a formal education in elementary. In Singapore, it is a place where children can socialize and have fun. It is where kids can enjoy and exercise with other children, under the guidance and supervision of teachers. Playgroups are also great for invited parents since it allows them to socialize with each other, get parenting tips and some slack from household chores and routine.

Ideas for activities in playgroups may vary widely and only limited by the imagination. However, solutions when ideas do run out. With realizing any idea, teachers and other child care centre staff should be skeptical of the age of the kids in the playgroup to make it fun yet safe for those involved. Here are a few ideas to jog some creative juices for sessions with playgroups.

One of the very popular ideas for a playgroup revolves dressing up for a specific theme. Whether it’s dedicated to a guide, an animation or perhaps a particular letter from the alphabet, it excites both logical and creative areas of the child’s mind. As an example, playgroups might have each day specialized in the letter C wherein each child can dress up and bring something which starts with that specific letter.

Some other activities can stem from a themed event. It is a great method for teachers to start educating the kids about how the entire world works and their relationship to the environmental surroundings they live in. Knowing their role at such a early age and appreciate their surroundings will teach them how to take care of the environmental surroundings better.
